"Baghdad… Baghdad” exhibition at Khawla Art Gallery, features the exquisite works of Faisel Laibi Sahi, the Famous Avant-Garde Mesopotamian Artist.
Many of Faisel’s works involve his trademark; idiosyncratic mingling of figuration, abstraction, symbolism, dream imagery, history and mythology, and comedy and tragedy - rendered in pop-like contemporary realism.
Faisel Laibi Sahi’s paintings of Iraqi people going about their daily business are at once still, timeless and compassionate portrayals of archetypal human predicaments and aspirations but also have their roots in his country’s fertile, ancient cultural traditions and its current social and political complexities.
